Warning: if you pick this book up, it will be very hard to put down. Heartless by Marissa Meyer is tied for my favorite book of all time (which I’ll get to later.) It’s a completely different take on Alice in Wonderland; it tells the story of the girl who came to be the Queen of Hearts. This book melted my heart–until it went and shattered it. Love, mystery, madness, monsters, murder–this book has it all. As she always does, Marissa Meyer beautifully makes you fall in love with the book and the characters. This book was a thrilling adventure from start to finish! If none of this appeals to you for whatever reason, then just read this book for Jest. He’s the best character, and he will be sure to capture your heart.
